Electrolux vacuum motor brushes - Any cheap sources?

Discussion on general flowbench design

Postby MMack » Fri Jul 06, 2007 9:38 am

It got a great deal, or so it seemed, on the vacuum motors for my bench. 6 electrolux vacuums in working order with no accessories and many without cords for repairing a 5hp briggs tiller engine. Got the tiller going for $18. plus my time.

When I started the vac. motors, several are arcing from the brush area, a few badly.

I saw some posts on here about replacing the brushes to fix that, but looking at the prices for replacement brushes, they are about half the cost of a surplus center motor. Any hot tricks that I have missed? I have been playing with a go kart head up till now, but I blew the head gasket on my Nissan and the head was damaged so I want to flow it and then compare it to the potential replacement candidates to get the best one. Now I need more air flow, and need to use those other motors that go arcy sparky.

Thanks for you help!
