Blower

Discussion on general flowbench design

Has anyone got any info on the blowers they use to blow up the things kids climb on at carnivals and such?

I was at a hometown days event recently and noticed the blower they use on those giant pillows....whatever you want to call those things the little kids jump around on and have a lot of fun.

The blowers were electric, pretty quiet and ran all day and well into the night without any sign of problems.

I"m wondering if they produce enough pressure for a flowbench. They certainly have capacity but will the build test pressure?

Tony.....this one's right up your alley..

Those blowers pump a mountain of air, but the operating pressure would be far below our needs.

Twenty eight inches of test pressure is almost exactly 1psi, and you don't need anything like 1psi to support the weight of a person over a few square feet of inflated plastic.

Just a guess, but it might be more like 0.1psi, or 14.4 Lbs per square foot, or even a bit less than that to make it really springy for the kids.
Also known as the infamous "Warpspeed" on some other Forums.
