I can't take the credit for this one, a friend made it for me after seeing me struggle with roller cam springs.
This one is a real humdinger, Big and small Chev Chrysler Windsor Cleveland; they all fit and adjustments where needed

I guess you have to be a VW guy to appreciate that :;):

I AM a VW guy, my user name is a reference to a car I used to drive, a 1986 VW Scirocco but still think that's really bad pun.

BTW, for the non-VW guys that may be reading this thread, This is a VW valve shim, often refered to as a "puck"

Ed,
When I closed my shop down I gave that whole setup you showed away to a friend that did them. I had hundreds of the pucks. Do you also have the "J" shaped tool to slide down between two followers at the same time? Slipped under the cam and depressed 2 followers at one time to change the pucks.

I remember welding a Rabbit head up for a friend one time - heart shaped combustion chambers and raised ports. Then installed oversized valves. I was not sure it would work but was one nasty mini stocker for about 3 years.

Thanks for the picture so they could see what we were talking about.

I've got the J-hook and shim pliers too.

I haven't been working on much of my own stuff recently, I've got a 1980 Scirocco project car that I have yet to start on, I'm thinking of a 16v engine for that one. Recently, I've been helping a friend with a VW powered modified car, our current engine is a 2.0L, it's got the newer style 8 valve cross flow head with the intake ports on one side and the exhaust ports on the other and makes about 190bhp running with a single 2 barrel carb.
