thats a good thread and very basic set up ..looks like they get all the parameters required ....I sold my CA 135 Telma and decided I would build a water brake myself as I require high revs and no more than 300 ft lbs Torque...had a gearbox to step down revs to usable range for Telma..

Hi Bruce
it was just an old TK Bedford truck gearbox I was given....it would stand the torque and had a flange on output ....it was going to run inline with retarder....you should be able to find plenty of manual gearboxes in scrap yards that could handle the torque.I had been looking at all sorts of reduction devises ,gilmer drives ,industrial reduction boxes but the simplest and cheapest was the truck box with selection of its ratios...
Sorry Bruce I dont have any images and gearbox went to scrap when I closed my factory down last October...
Now Im in the same position as Tony all projects have stopped till this old fart gets another job ...
