does it really matter on the size that the air flows in or out on the msd style bench or even bruces design? didnt know if those hole had to be a certain size. got a 5 inch hole saw didnt want to have to buy a 6 inch. i know cheapass.

Ah which hole? I take it the top one?
5" should be more than large enough. That's what my plans call for . . . you did look at my plans didn't you? ???

Probably a reasonable rule of thumb might be that no internal flow area should be made any smaller than the test hole size, unless you deliberately wish to build in an air restriction for flow measurement, or for flow control.
