Conditioning Orifice Plates

Hi,

Has anyone considered using a conditioning orifice plate? Similar to the type produced by Rosemount, i.e. the 1595 series here

They seem to offer tha same Cd values and accuracy as plates designed to ISO/ASME standards but can cope with very short piping runs to a source of disturbance e.g. pipe bend.

They seem very easy to design and would be perhaps be ideal for a single orifice flow bench...

Any thoughts?

I don't recall anyone here, as of yet, taking on a project like that. Someone really ought to give it a go.....may as well be you

I've just drawn up a plate in AutoCAD after reading all of the brochures. It's quite easy to design the actual plate.
I'm now gathering together all the available equations for the orifice Cd values and as many testing results as I can. I've started to construct a spreadsheet to compare Cd values vs Reynolds numbers (pipe and orifice throat) for the equations vs tested results. So far there seems to be good corelation except for low pipe Reynolds numbers, lower than ~6000 anyway.
I've more research to do and will post results.
