This is the "high end" of my variable inclined manometer showing the revised rise locating pin behind the 4-bar linkage pivot. I extended the bolt about an inch and then covered the threads with a section of the vinyl hose to keep the threads from "chewing up" the backing board.

The lower end is shown in the next post.

[color=#000000]Hi all, With all the talk about changes in Calibration due to Orifice wear, etc. I decided to take a look at my Pitot bench. I first tested for leaks by sealing a solid bore adapter to the top of the settling chamber. In this test, I was able to reach 110 cm (the manometer limit) on my vertical manometer with no flow through the inclined manometer. Satisfied with that, I moved on to the Calibration (if that is what it is).

For this, I used one of Bruce

Doug, what is the inside diameter of your flow element?

I have a different spreadsheet I use for my pitot calculations, I can run your numbers through my sheet to cross check.

Hi Bruce, I am using a 1.5 inch PVC tube which measures 1.57" ID. Thanks! -- Doug

Sent you an email also.

Here's an update (for what it's worth). I changed the incline to 4 inch max and my numbers climbed to about 88% of "Calculated" vs 85% with the 5 inch incline. Back to reviewing equations! -- Doug

I put in 59 degrees air temp and 29.92 (Temp/ Baro STP)
here are your numbers

SLS
Actual Corrected
Flow Flow
(CFM) (CFM)
0.00 0.00

29.36 29.33
37.68 37.65
43.90 43.86
50.86 50.81
55.16 55.11
59.44 59.38
64.09 64.03
68.80 68.73
72.51 72.44
76.15 76.07
77.79 77.72

I am very surprised by the assumed conditions you reported.

Why do you have a "leakage"?

And what does this refer to?

My plates are calculated and machined for standard 70 temp 29.92 baro.

What I would do is figureout what your (my) plate flows at your max flow depression and current weather conditions in your shop. Pull max depression on your bench with plate installed, set your incline to read max plate flow on your scale.

Personally, working in various scale values is confusing the he%$ out of me!

But then again I'm not an Engineer ::waiting for the wrath of all the engineer's out there:: :D

[color=#000000]Tom, I'm not sure what you did, but my 65.8+*F and 23.85" Hg are weather station ACTUALS at my home. I live at elevation 6550 ft. in the mountains of east-central New Mexico so Barometric is always LOW! The numbers on the spreadsheet were straight from Ed's calculations, but my weather station reads English/Imperial units so I added an input and conversion as a precursor to using his metric calculations as posted. This way I don
